The genome of the common house spider Parasteatoda tepidariorum has been sequenced in collaboration with many researchers and institutes worldwide. This spider species is very useful for laboratoy studies, especially in the field of developmental biology. Our laboratory pioneered in using this spider species and have made continuing efforts to develop techniques for cellular, molecular and genetic analyses of embryonic development. This international collaboration has established well-annotated genomic and transcriptomic sequences, promoting much deeper studies using this spider species.
