Students from University Giessen learned spider experimental techniques in our lab.
On August of 27-29, 2024, we hosted five students from Justus Liebig University Giessen. They learned spider experimental techniques.
Yausko is instructing how to prepare nuclei from spider embryos for single-nuc RNA sequencing.
Yasuko is introducing fluorescent dye into the glass capillary for cell labeling microinjection.
Koh is controlling the fluorescence microscope to see labeled cells in injected embryos.

The students left short messages to our laboratory and institute as follows:
Our study at the Oda-lab was very informative & productive, a super welcoming atmosphere combined with great insights into innovative methods & applications. Would definitly recommend!
Our research group was here for three days.. We learned a lot about new techniques and methods. The knowledge of the Oda-research group is deep. I felt very welcome and would recommend a visit. Also the museum is nice and worth a visit if you speak/read japanese.
I like your design of the building. On the lower floor the museum and DNA stairs. And the upper post the different research groups, wehre you can see what they are researching for. I attended the Oda lab Spider group for three days and I felt very welcome here. I’m a science technician and learned a lot of methods. It’s worth being here.
The Oda-lab is an advanced institute. They are very open-minded and show a lot of patience in explaining their methods. You feel welcome and would like to come back. All in all it was a good and helpful experience and visit.
The latest state-of-the-art techniques used by the Cell and Developmental Biology lab (Oda lab) at the JT BRH will definitely provide a clearer picture of the complex spider embryogenesis and will benefit the large arthropod community. It was a great opportunity for me to visit the Oda lab and learn a lot from their vast experiences and knowledge.
