Several tens of millions of species live on this Earth; living creatures are characterized by our diversity. But every last one of us is cellular, and we each have our own genome, our own complete set of DNA. And we all seem to share the same ancestor, one born in an earthly sea some 3.8 billion years ago. This original genome changed bit by bit over a long, long time, bringing us to the species and individuals we have today.
Within this exhibit are six panels. Together they present three different narratives to this story of what it means to be alive –<horizontal and vertical connections>, <evolutionary and individual time>, and <changes in genomes and epigenomes>.
